ADIDAS firmly denies the news that the official ball for the 2022 World Cup will be made in Indonesia. Media Relations Director of Adidas, Stefan Pursche, emphasized that his party had not appointed Indonesia to produce the official ball for the 2022 World Cup.
Previously, Adidas’ rebuttal received public attention. The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the 2022 World Cup ball came from Indonesia. PT Global Way Indonesia (GWI) which handles production for the 2022 World Cup. PT GWI has a head office in Madiun which is located in East Java.
Actually, the ball that will be used in the 2022 World Cup is called Al Rihla. However, it is not Indonesia that produces it. Even Adidas firmly denied the news. The question now is, where will the balls come from for the 2022 World Cup?

Stefan admitted that Adidas had collaborated with factories in Indonesia. However, the scope of this cooperation is limited, namely only making ball replicas or souvenirs. Does not include the 222 official World Cup balls used in matches.
Meanwhile, Adidas will use a ball made in the village of Sialkot, which is located in Pakistan. About 70 per cent of the official World Cup balls for the 2022 tournament have come from the region by Adidas.
PT Global Way Indonesia (GWI) provided its own response. They are upfront about the facts. Where they have not presented themselves as an official ball manufacturer for the 2022 World Cup. So far PT GWI has only carried out its responsibilities as a manufacturer of ball replicas or 2022 World Cup souvenirs.
Nevertheless, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, Governor of East Java, admits that she is still proud of her province. A contribution that contributed to the success of the 2022 World Cup. Adidas gave PT GWI the opportunity to produce souvenir balls.

    Al Rihla

The name “Al Rihla”, means “travel”. This is the name for the 2022 World Cup Official Ball. Adidas, which has developed connected ball technology, is able to measure the speed of the ball.
According to Johannes Holzfeller, who serves as FIFA Director of Technology, the process of finalizing the technology will take three years. The accuracy and consistency of Al Rihla’s ball has been tested. This information pertains to Adidas’s strong denial of the Indonesian-made official ball for the 2022 World Cup.
