Manchester United (MU) goalkeeper, David de Gea, has been excluded from the Spain team at the 2022 World Cup. Still, most lately, the 32- time-old goalkeeper will also be excluded from the MU team. Because the club wants to bring in the Spanish National Team goalkeeper.
In the once month, MU has been extensively reported to be looking for a new goalkeeper. The Red Devils are looking for someone who can replace David De Gea whose contract will expire in the summer of 2023.
So far, there have been several goalkeepers linked with Manchester United. One of them is the goalkeeper of the Spanish National Team, Unai Simon. The Mirror claims MU also has other options to pursue a new goalkeeper. The Red Devils also have the eventuality to retain another Spanish National Team goalkeeper, Robert Sanchez.
According to the report, MU was interested in subscribing Sanchez because of the goalkeeper’s track record. While strengthening Brighton, Sanchez always performed well and showed stable performance. So, he was entrusted with the Spanish National Team squad.
Meanwhile, on the other hand, Erik ten Hag likes Sanchez’ playing style which is able of starting attacks from before. The MU director from the Netherlands is also seriously considering the possibility of retaining Sanchez.
Another reason why MU is interested in retaining Robert Sanchez is because of the consideration of a more affordable price. The goalkeeper is still under contract at Brighton until 2025. Still, the transfer figure is estimated at just 30 million pounds.
That price is much cheaper than the price that Unai Simon or other MU target goalkeepers have. So, MU is veritably interested in securing the 24- time-old goalkeeper.
